Brad Hansen

About Me

A qualified guide and tracker, Brad was born in South Africa in 1981. After studying agriculture, Brad decided to follow his passion for African wildlife by moving to Tanzania.

During his time as the Managing Director of an Arusha based tour operator, Brad led numerous safaris along Tanzania's Northern Circuit. Being intimately acquainted with the region, Brad decided to ‘raise the bar’ by establishing a new company in Tanzania, Hansen Safaris Ltd, which has allowed him to pursue a full-time career as a private guide. Having lived and worked in the Serengeti and Katavi National Parks, Brad has had great opportunities to develop his bush knowledge and takes pride in sharing his intimate local knowledge of these special areas.

There are few wildlife hotspots that Brad has not explored but it is the lesser travelled ‘off the beaten track’ destinations that really excite Brad. Some of Brad’s favourite areas include the Selous Game Reserve, Katavi National Park, Ruaha National Park, Serengeti National Park and the almost moon like landscape of deep Maasai Land and it’s active volcanoes.

In between guiding in Tanzania, Brad has been a team member on numerous expeditions run throughout Africa by a leading National Geographic film maker.

Safari Diary
It's always difficult to do justice to a safari by scribbling words onto a page and throwing a couple pictures together because the simple reality is that a safari is way more than just viewing animals. It's also about the scenery, sounds, smells, campfires, anticipation, adrenaline, isolation, moon, sun and stars.... read more

Testimonials

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the places and  moments that take our breath away.”  anonymous. -  This would best describe our travels with Brad Hansen.

Traveling with Brad and his driver Sylvanus was an amazing way to experience the Serengeti.  Every day was different and every day was wonderful.  We saw the Big 5, but, more importantly we learned how some of the intricacies of the eco system and the reliance each member on the other  And we observed the amazing cheetah in its struggle to survive.  In fact we saw 33 cheetahs.
