Pushing the right buttons is the key to the African experience. I have been fortunate enough to complete a science degree at the University of Natal, majoring in animals, grasses and ecology. This has given me some great insight as well as tools in which to attempt to unlock and explain these incredible worlds around us. Added to this, I love to travel, and before working in the bush managed to broaden my horizons and travel extensively through Europe and South America, as well as the Middle and Far East.
My career in the eco-tourism industry started at Mala Mala Game Reserve next to the Kruger National Park, where I gained valuable guiding expertise and people skills. But the Okavango Delta was always yearning and I was lucky enough to get posted with Wilderness Safaris at their world famous Mombo Camp in the late 1990’s. I spent more than four years here guiding and managing at probably the most incredible wildlife viewing destination in Africa.
However the urge to show people the guided experience through all the wonderful camps and environments in Northern Botswana pushed me to expand into the private guiding role. You gain immense satisfaction from sharing and realising people's dreams, discoveries and most of all perspectives completing a journey through these incredible wilderness areas.
After taking an exploratory trip around East Africa in early 2004 and then moving to Cape Town and getting married the following year, I have now expanded my knowledge and understanding of most of the safari orientated experiences right from Gorillas in Rwanda, through the deserts of Namibia and floodplains of the Zambezi, to the Wine lands of the Western Cape. The incredible environmental diversity, history, culture and untold beauty of this enchanted and mysterious continent fascinate me every minute of the waking day. You never stop learning, appreciating and growing every time you step out into the African wilderness.
