Jacqui was born in Cape Town and has lived most of her life there.
She speaks German, Dutch, English, Afrikaans and a bit of Xhosa.
She studied and worked in journalism, broadcasting, education and music.
This background has positioned Jacqui ideally to operate as a guide, specialising in Cape Town and the surrounding area.
Jacqui grew up in apartheid South Africa and experienced the euphoria of Nelson Mandela’s release in February 1990. She was a journalist/producer on national radio between 1990 and 1994 when our first democratic elections happened and so gained first hand experience and knowledge of South African politics.
Having grown up in Cape Town, Jacqui has an intimate knowledge of what it has to offer - breathtaking natural beauty, numerous activities, interesting architecture and a wonderful and diverse people. She has discovered many hidden corners which most tourists never get to see. The same is true of her trips to the Garden Route and the Little Karoo.
Of all her experiences, Jacqui most appreciates the people of Cape Town and South Africa who meet visitors with smiling faces and genuine warmth. This despite our bitter apartheid past and socio-economic problems. To Jacqui, this is the way we have shown the world that forgiveness and reconciliation are possible.
Upliftment is the key to making progress in South Africa. Jacqui is excited to offer clients the chance to get involved with projects where they can make a real difference. She has seen how these can become life changing experiences.
So, what Jacqui offers clients who travel with her, is more than the usual tourist attractions, she offers an authentic experience and the chance to connect with everyday South Africans.
