For the past 17 years, Johann has been involved in specialist safari guiding within Southern Africa. Safaris and excursions have taken him to Namibia, Botswana, Swaziland, South Africa, Zambia and Tanzania where he has been able to captivate the imagination and attention of his clients through his incredible interpretive skills and knowledge within the bush, also known as Johann’s home. This is where he feels most comfortable, at least that is whilst not with his family or on his surfboard!
Johann has been earmarked as a Private Specialist Guide for a handful of prestigious safari operators and also finds the time to teach and train individuals desiring to learn or expand their bank of knowledge and experience within the bush. The training concentrates either on skill development or experiential safari concepts, tailored to satisfy any “learner’s” hunger for the wilderness. Children and family safaris rank high on Johann’s list of important things to do – this is a must for any family wishing to enchant their souls with the wonders of Africa.
As a Level 3 SKSDG guide (Specialist Knowledge Skills and Dangerous Game), one of a handful currently in South Africa, Johann has vast knowledge regarding big game. However, his acknowledgement for the environment allows him to express the importance of a holistic approach when looking at an ecosystem and thus has the ability to conduct an unforgettable safari without ever having to encounter one mammal in the bush.
Johann is a father to little Sienna-Reese and is expecting his boy in July 2009. Exciting times lie ahead for the Lombard children!
