About Me

Matthew Copham is an accomplished guide and published photographer after years of experience living, working and travelling in the African bush. He attained his first guiding qualifications at the age of sixteen and now, over the past 12 years, Matt has guided at some of southern Africa’s top private lodges and Wilderness areas.

After finishing school he attained a diploma in game ranging and lodge management, which set up the theoretical background for entering the then quickly developing eco-tourism industry. At the age of 19 he was employed full time as a guide in the Greater Kruger National Park, moving between the Manyeleti, Sabi Sands and Thornybush game reserves. Here he remained for six years gaining invaluable experience for the future as a professional guide.

Matt now lives in Maun, Botswana, the Okavango Delta’s doorstep. He conducts privately guided safaris for Wilderness Safaris which again gives him the oppotunity to travel throughout Southern Africa.

Testimonials
My wife and I must have been on about 60 safaris in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania and Kenya over the past 40 years and during that time we have not come across a more knowledgeable or ‘simpatico’ guide that Matt. That’s it.
