Classic Zambia

A trip to Zambia takes you back to a style steeped in tradition and a true feeling of being on safari. The Zambezi and Luangwa Valleys are both legendary safari destinations worthy of their reputation of being the “real Africa”.

Small intimate bush camps in remote wilderness areas offer some of the best walking destinations on the continent. Search for Zambia’s endemic mammal and bird species. Expect phenomenal game viewing on foot, and by vehicle. Take to the water for an unforgettable boat trip on the mighty Zambezi River.

We have selected our camps meticulously. Each has its own special attraction and mode of game viewing. You’ll experience a variety of remarkable wildlife and magnificent landscapes. These locations are personally chosen for their remoteness and finest location within both the South Luangwa National Park and the Lower Zambezi National Park.

The safari starts in Lusaka, Zambia

Kaingo Camp, South Luangwa National Park - 3 nights

Deep within the prime wilderness area of South Luangwa National Park, overlooking the Luangwa River, Kaingo’s relaxed personal and friendly atmosphere offers fantastic game viewing in a region of incredible beauty and varied terrain.

“Kaingo” means leopard in Nyanja, the local language. There are few better areas in Africa to encounter this spectacular cat. In addition, Kaingo Camp is well known for its photographic opportunities and offers the keen photographer the chance to view and photograph wildlife from a number of specially-designed photographic hides. This is one of the attractions at Kaingo and allows a different angle and style of game viewing.

Each of the thatched rooms overlook the Luangwa River and have a private deck area that offers you the chance to just sit and enjoy the activity of the animals and birds that frequent the river and surrounding woodland.

This wonderful camp is owner-run and operated, and you’ll be guaranteed a high level of service and personal attention throughout your stay.

Chiawa Camp, Lower Zambezi National Park - 3 nights

Resting peacefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, under a grove of evergreen mahogany trees, Chiawa Camp holds the prime position in the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park. Constructed mainly of natural materials, this award-winning camp blends in effortlessly with its idyllic surroundings.

There are few rivers in the world as impressive as the Zambezi River. For the next three days you will have access to this great watercourse by boat, as well as game drives and walks along the floodplains. Famous for its large relaxed elephant bulls that wander this area, the Zambezi floodplains also support most of Africa’s large and small game species. The possibility of photographing wildlife from dry land as well as from the river, adds another dimension to the safari.

Boat Transfer to Old Mondoro Bush Camp, Lower Zambezi National Park.

Old Mondoro Bush Camp – 3 nights

Tucked away in the remotest corner of the Lower Zambezi National Park, Old Mondoro offers you the chance to experience a camp that is well-known for its top quality game viewing and a relaxed, yet professional atmosphere in camp. Accommodating just eight guests in total ensures a small and intimate feeling at all times. Each of the four guest rooms have been designed to make the most of the views around camp, at the same time supplying all the luxuries necessary to make your stay here comfortable and memorable.

A variety of game viewing modes is available here and the ability to walk, boat and game drive all in one day make for an exciting and ever-changing safari experience. Daytime game drives, and the added excitement of night drives, ensure that a full schedule of activities is always on offer.
