Botswana’s Okavango Delta is rightly considered to be one of the most incredible wildlife and wilderness sanctuaries in Africa.
Apart from the outstanding beauty of the wetland habitat, this unique area supports and sustains a huge diversity of fauna and flora, providing excellent game viewing throughout the year. The varied habitats of marshes, grasslands, waterways, riverine forests and dry woodlands are home to prolific wildlife and make this a region of stunning contrasts.
In this itinerary we have included Chitabe and Duba Explorers, both situated within private concessions in Botswana’s most productive wildlife areas. The camps are small and intimate, designed with privacy and comfort in mind, with as little impact on the environment as possible.
Each camp offers superb facilities – large private bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and a wonderful lounge, dining and bar area.
Be prepared for a safari into remote uninhabited areas, the possibility to be out all day without seeing another soul, and to witness the survival of wildlife as it has been for thousands of years, undisturbed and uncontrived.
The safari starts in Johannesburg, South Africa
Scheduled international flight to Maun, Botswana. Light aircraft transfer to Chitabe Camp.
Chitabe Camp, Okavango Delta – 4 nights
Situated in a private concession on an island in the south-east of the Okavango Delta, this area is host to a breathtaking mosaic of wooded, wetland and grassland habitats and famed for its incredible numbers and diversity of wildlife, in particular predators.
The camp’s eight spacious Meru-style tents are raised on wooden decks under large, shady trees. Each tent has twin beds, en-suite facilities and indoor and outdoor showers. The thatched dining area, bar and lounge are built on raised decks to provide superb views across the floodplain, and a pool allows you to cool off in the heat of the day.
This variety of habitat creates an abundance of wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, red lechwe and impala to name a few.
Light aircraft transfer to Duba Explorers Camp.
Duba Explorers Camp, Okavango Delta – 4 nights
Situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta floodplains habitat. A matrix of palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland, this 77,000 hectare private concession typifies the region’s unique landscape and is one of the most varied and expansive wildlife areas in the world.
The intimate camp consists of five expedition-style tents of light airy canvas on slightly raised decking, each with views of the surrounding floodplain.
A diverse range of species, including large herds of lechwe, kudu, tsessebe and giraffe, elephants and buffalo, move around the camp, along with hippo
trudging through the swamps, creating their channels and paths daily. Lions, leopards and hyenas are the predator components found in this wildlife paradise. Enjoy guided walks, boating opportunities or open air game drives.
