Introduction

Botswana’s Okavango Delta is rightly considered to be one of the most incredible wildlife and wilderness sanctuaries in Africa.  Apart from the outstanding beauty of the wetland habitat, this unique area supports and sustains a huge diversity of fauna and flora, providing excellent game viewing throughout the year.

In this itinerary we have included Duba Expeditions Camp in the Okavango Delta and Selinda Camp in the Selinda Spillway, both situated within private concessions in Botswana’s most productive wildlife areas.

The camps are small and intimate, designed with privacy and comfort in mind, with as little impact on the environment as possible.  Each camp offers superb facilities – large private bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and a wonderful lounge, dining and bar area.

Be prepared for a safari into remote uninhabited areas, the possibility to be out all day without seeing another soul, and to witness the survival of wildlife as it has been for thousands of years, undisturbed and uncontrived.

The safari starts in Johannesburg, South Africa
Scheduled international flight to Maun, Botswana. Light aircraft transfer to Duba Expeditions Camp.

Duba Expeditions Camp, Okavango Delta – 4 nights

Situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta floodplains habitat.  A matrix of palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland, this 77,000 hectare private concession typifies the region’s unique landscape and is one of the most varied and expansive wildlife areas in the world.

The intimate camp consists of six expedition-style tents of light airy canvas on slightly raised decking, each with views of the surrounding floodplain.

A diverse range of species, including large herds of lechwe, kudu, tsessebe and giraffe, elephants and buffalo, move around the camp, along with hippo
trudging through the swamps, creating their channels and paths daily.   Lions, leopards and hyenas are the predator components found in this wildlife paradise.  Enjoy guided walks, boating opportunities or open air game drives.

Light aircraft transfer to Selinda Camp

Selinda Camp, Selinda Spillway – 4 nights

Set in one of the most pristine wilderness areas in northern Botswana’s startlingly beautiful and remote 320 000 acre Selinda Reserve, Selinda Camp is located along the Selinda Spillway, a narrow channel of water that links the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti Swamps and Savuti Channel.

Home to some of the largest herds of elephant and buffalo left in Southern Africa, this incredible area is also one of the last great bastions of the endangered African wild dog – the “painted wolf”.

Eight spacious canvas-walled “tents” under thatch overlook the floodplains and lagoons, where lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog are frequently seen. Day and night game drives through riverine woodland and surrounding mopane forests, together with the option of guided nature walks, provide ample opportunity to view the huge variety of wildlife living in this very private corner of Botswana.

Light aircraft transfer to Maun International Airport. Scheduled international flight to Johannesburg.
The safari ends in Johannesburg, South Africa

“Our trip was absolutely spectacular. I have wanted to see the mountain gorillas for many years and was not disappointed.   Thanks so much for the gorgeous e-Book – special thanks to you, Lee, for taking shots of us at our gorilla viewings.  I still find it hard to believe that I was actually there. It was an unreal/surreal experience.  I might have to do it againJ… I always feel as if I’ve stepped into a dream.”
