Sometimes I think we are all guilty of forgetting to simply sit quietly and enjoy some silence. There are few places in the world where this is actually possible and these places are becoming harder to find as time progresses.

After many days on safari and some high energy, intensive experiences, encounters and ‘wow moments,’ we chose to do something a little different. Leaving camp late in the afternoon, we wound our way across the valley and into the hills, stopping on an elevated ridge overlooking the expanse of one of the oldest deserts in the world.

A slight wind was blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean to the west, which was just out of view, sitting in silence for a moment in time, just looking out across one of the most starkly beautiful landscapes imaginable. We reflected on what we had experienced the preceding few days and what we still had left to enjoy in the last remaining days of the trip… not a bad way to end a day in anyone’s books!
